The Podtrosecká Údolí comprises several little valleys that form an arch to the north and northeast around Trosky Castle.
At the bottom of canyon-like valleys whose parts are lined with rocks, there is a group of ponds and numerous characteristic localities with wetland and wet meadows, habitats of abundant vegetation and animals. Therefore, the locality was declared a national preserve (in 1999). Besides the Hruboskalsko and the Příhrazské Skály, it is the largest preserve in the PLA Český Ráj. It was declared a preserve in order to protect the wetlands on the bottom of the valley around the Želejovský Potok and the Žehrovka.

Podtrosecká valleys educational path
Start from Borek pod Troskami along the yellow tourist path around Libuňka, Rokytnický pond and Vidlák marshland, and continue along Věžický pond to the Přibyl crossing. From there take the red path to Podsemínský pond. When you pass the pond turn left to Roveň village and continue to Malechovice. The path will take you to the Podtrosecká Valleys Nature Reserve. The reserve was established in 1999 to cover the Jordánka and Žehrovka River valleys, including the neighbouring valleys, and to form the largest complex of marshland habitats of the Bohemian Paradise protected landscape. The territory includes ponds and rivers in canyon valleys lined with sandstone rocks. The 13 stations of the educational path describe the nature, geology and the history of the area.

Sobotecko: Podtrosecká valleys to the ruins of Trosky Castle
The 18 km route with a moderate difficulty starts in Libošovice and takes you to Věžák Pond, then to the ruins of Trosky Castle and back to Libošovice. You can also choose to start and end your trip in Sobotka. This will extend the route to 30 km in total.
